Run a listening session over a link
By the end an A&R will have heard your track and left notes on the exact moments they mean, without a call and without a Vandall account.
Before you start
- The mix uploaded to a track.
- Someone to send it to. They don’t need a Vandall account.

Send the mix as a link
Open the mix, press Share, then press Copy. Leave Comments switched on, because that’s how their notes reach you. Switch Downloading off if you don’t want an unreleased track in their downloads folder.
- You now see a link they can play and comment on.

Tell them how to leave a note
Add one line to your message: scroll down to Comments, below the player, and tick Include timestamp so each note is pinned to where they are in the track. Ask for one note per point rather than a paragraph. A list is much easier to work through.
- You now see the page they’ll open, and the box they’ll type in.
- Ask them to fill in Your name before writing. Every note they post carries that name.

Read the notes where they landed
Open the file you shared. Their comments appear in its comment thread, each with a time badge. Tap a badge and the player jumps to that second, so you hear each note in context instead of guessing what "the bit before the drop" meant.
- You now see their feedback as a list of moments in the track.

Answer in the same thread
Reply on the file, in the same comment thread. Notes from a share link don’t appear on the track’s Chat tab, so a reply there won’t reach anyone. Comments can’t be marked resolved, so say what you did instead. "Fixed in V2" is all this thread needs.

Close the link when the session is over
When you’ve got the notes you need, open the share panel and press Stop sharing at the top right. This is permanent: anyone opening the old link gets a not-found page. If you share again, you get a different link.
- You now see the link switched off, and the track private again.
What a link session gives you, and what it does not
- Comments back
- The only feedback you get. Each one is pinned to a second, comes from someone without an account, and appears on the file’s own thread.
- No listening figures
- Vandall doesn’t report opens, plays or listening time. Silence tells you nothing, so ask for a note.
- No resolved state
- Comments can’t be ticked off. A long thread stays long, so upload a new mix as a new file.
- External commenters
- A signed-in commenter who isn’t on the track is marked (external). Someone without an account types their name first.
- Downloading
- With it off, there’s no download button. The audio still streams, so it discourages copying rather than preventing it.
- Stop sharing
- Permanent, and the only way to switch a link off. Sharing again creates a new link. The old one stays off.
Ways people use this
Replacing the call entirely
Send the link the night before and ask for notes instead of booking a time. You get feedback on the exact seconds, they listen properly instead of over a call, and nobody spends forty minutes on the first verse.
Two or three people on the same mix
Send the same link to all of them. Their notes appear in one thread with their names on, so you can see where they agree, instead of piecing together three separate conversations.
They went quiet
Ask them. Vandall doesn’t show whether a link was opened or played, so a follow-up message is the only way to find out.
Tips
- Ask for one note per issue, with the timestamp ticked. A list of moments is easy to act on. A paragraph has to be decoded first.
