Filling in Release Metadata

Complete every metadata field your distributor needs — from release name and genre to ISRC codes and lyrics.

3 min·6 steps·Updated 2026-04-20
  1. 1

    Open the Metadata tab

In your project, tap "Metadata." Fields that are incomplete show indicators so you know what's missing.

    Fill in Release Information

Required for distribution: Release Name, Artist Name, Genre (Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, Electronic, etc.), and Language.

  3. 3

    Add the ISRC code

Enter your ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) in the format: two country letters + three alphanumeric + two year digits + five digits. Your label or distributor usually provides this.

  4. 4

    Set musical properties

Optional but valuable: BPM (20-300), Key (tonic note + Major/Minor), Instrumental flag, and Explicit Lyrics flag.

  5. 5

    Add lyrics and description

Paste full lyrics for streaming platforms that display them (Apple Music, Spotify). The Description field is for internal notes your label can see.

  6. 6

    Assign credits

The Credits section shows a card listing contributors grouped by role. Tap "Edit" to open the editor and toggle role pills. Complete credits are essential — they determine streaming platform credits and PRO database entries.

Tips

  • Complete metadata before signing agreements — fields pre-fill into the split sheet wizard.
  • You can save partial metadata at any time. Fields turn green as you complete them.
