Set up your account and accreditations
By the end your rights-society numbers will be saved to your account, so every agreement you sign fills them in for you.
Before you start
- Any society numbers you already have: IPI, IPN, ISNI, or a PRO membership number. You can add them later, but they only appear on agreements you sign after that.

Open Settings
Click your name at the top of your track list, or the gear icon to its right. Settings isn’t a tab, so it’s easy to miss. You can also get here from a track’s Metadata tab: follow the account settings link under Accreditation info.

Add your IPI number
Type your number into IPI number. It saves when you click away. There’s no save button and no confirmation message, so don’t wait for one. Your IPI identifies you as a songwriter or publisher, and it’s the number most split sheets ask for.

Add an IPN or ISNI if you have one
Press Add IPN or Add ISNI, under the IPI field. Each adds its own field. Your IPN identifies you as a performer, not a writer. ISNI is a wider public identifier used by libraries and databases. Both are optional, and neither replaces your IPI.
- You now see each number in its own labelled field.

Record anything else as a custom entry
Press Custom, next to Add ISNI. Type an Accreditation label and an Accreditation number, such as a PRO membership number, a collection society ID or a publisher code. Press Add custom accreditation. Keep anything someone might ask you for here, not in a note you have to find later.
- You now see your custom entry listed with the standard ones.

Watch them reach a track
Open any track you’re on and go to the Metadata tab. Scroll to Accreditation info: your numbers appear next to your name without you retyping them, and they’re filled in when you sign an agreement. Someone with no numbers saved sees No accreditation information defined here, and Not defined when signing, with an Edit in profile link.
- You now see your numbers on the track, filled in for you.

Leave, or leave for good
Scroll to the bottom of Settings. Press Logout to sign out; anything playing stops. Press Delete account to remove your account for good. The app asks you to confirm first. If you sign up again with the same address, you get a new, empty account. Your old one can’t be restored.
- You now see you’re signed out, or your account is deleted for good.
- Delete account is the last item in Settings, below the version number.
What each field is for
- IPI number
- Interested Party Information. Identifies you as a songwriter or publisher to collection societies. Most split sheets ask for it.
- IPN number
- International Performer Number. Identifies you as a performer on a recording, which earns different royalties from writing it.
- ISNI
- A public identifier for a person or group, used well beyond music. Useful when your name isn’t unique, so a catalog can tell you apart from others.
- Custom
- A label and a number for anything without its own field, such as a PRO membership number or a society ID. It appears wherever the standard entries do.
- Product updates
- One checkbox for occasional emails about Vandall. It has nothing to do with your music and stays off unless you tick it.
- Delete account
- Immediate and permanent after one confirmation. There’s no grace period and no restore, so download anything you want to keep first.
Ways people use this
Filling this in before your first split sheet, not after
An agreement records your numbers at the moment you sign. Adding your IPI later doesn’t update a signed document, so five minutes here saves you signing a split sheet again.
You write and you perform on the same record
Add both numbers: the IPI for the writing and the IPN for the performance. A common mistake is adding only the IPI, which can leave performance royalties unmatched.
Asked for a number Vandall has no field for
Add it as a Custom entry, using the name the person asking for it used. It then goes with you onto every track, so you never have to dig out the email that told you what it was.
Tips
- The Vandall App doesn’t bill you and has no plans, upgrades or payment settings. If your label or organisation pays for Vandall, that’s arranged between you and them.
