Managing files in a release package

By the end you’ll know a release package can hold any file you choose, and you’ll have added files to one, marked its main audio and cover art, and taken a file out.

3 min·4 steps·Updated 2026-10-14
The Files card on the Package tab lists exactly what goes out with the release.

Before you start

  • A track with at least one file. Any file type can go in the package: masters, stems, artwork, lyrics, PDFs and press photos.
  • Permission to edit the track’s files.
  1. 1

Upload the files you want to send

Open the track’s Files tab and click Upload Files, or drag files onto the tab. Add whatever belongs with the release: stems, lyrics, PDFs, press photos. Every file you upload is stored in the track first. Nothing is in the package yet.

    • You now see your files listed in the track.
  2. 2

Choose what goes in the package

In the Release column, click a file’s cell. Choose Include to put any file in the package. Choose Don’t Include to take it out again. The file stays in the track either way.

    • You now see the file marked Included in the Release column.
    • A file marked Included shows a green tick in the column. Files with a dash are in the track but not in the package.
  3. 3

Mark the main audio and the cover art

Click the Release cell on an audio file and choose Main Audio, or on an image and choose Cover Art. A package has one of each. Marking a new one moves the role to it. Other files only offer Include.

    • You now see a star and the role name in the Release column.
  4. 4

    Check the package

Open the Package tab. The Files card lists everything that goes out, with Main audio and Cover beside those files. To change the list, click Manage Files, which takes you back to the Files tab.

    • You now see the files your recipient will find in the package.

What the Release column means

Main Audio
The one audio file the package plays. Only audio files can hold it.
Cover Art
The one image the package shows as its cover. Only images can hold it.
Included
Any other file you want in the package. Any file type can be included.
—
In the track, not in the package. Nobody who opens the package link sees it.

Ways people use this

Sending a distributor the full set

Include the master, the stems and the lyrics PDF, mark the master and the final artwork, then share the package. One link carries all of it.

Tips

  • Tag a file, for example approved or instrumental, from its details panel so your team knows which take is which.
