Vandall App
Get your first track shared
By the end you’ll have a track in Vandall with your audio in it, and a link you can send to anyone. Their comments come back to you on the file.
Before you start
- An audio file to upload. A rough mix is a good one to practise with.
- Someone to send it to. They don’t need a Vandall account.

Sign in
Open the App. On Authenticate to get started, type your email address into Enter e-mail and press Continue. Vandall emails you a sign-in link, so there’s no password to remember. To sign in with an existing account instead, press Google or Apple. If a label has invited you, use the address they sent the invitation to.

Give your legal name
Type your legal name and press Continue. Use the name you’d sign a contract with: it goes onto every split sheet and agreement you sign later. The app reloads after you save it. That’s expected.
- You now see your empty home screen, with the prompt "Start by creating a new track".

Create a track
Press Create track, type a name into Enter track name and press Continue. To add your audio straight away, press Select file(s) in the same dialog. A track holds everything for one piece of music: audio, artwork, comments, metadata and agreements. Name it after the release title so everyone can find it.
- You now see your new, empty track with an Upload file button.
- On the web, Create track is the blue button at the top of your track list. On a phone, tap New Track in the middle of the bottom bar.

Upload your audio
Press Upload file and pick your mix. The upload runs in the background. It has finished when the file appears in the track’s list, not when the file picker closes. To add more files later, use the Upload button on the Files tab.
- You now see your file listed in the track, ready to play.
- Can’t see a Files tab? You’re still on the track list. Open the track first. Its tabs run along the top.

Turn it into a link
Open the file and press Share. You’ll find it under the waveform, to the left of Download. The Share file link panel opens with your link already made. Press Copy and send it however you normally would, by email, message or chat. It’s an ordinary web link.
- You now see a link you can paste and send straight away.
- Stop sharing sits at the top of this same panel, so this is also where you come back to close the link.

See what they get
Open the link in a private browser window to see what your recipient sees. They get a player for the track and, further down, a Comments box where they type Your name and then Add a comment…. They don’t need a Vandall account and are never asked to make one. Their comments appear on the file in your track.
- You now see the page your collaborator sees. Their comments come back to you on the file.
Where things live
- Home
- Every track you own or have been given, plus your folders. A label’s work gets its own row, so it doesn’t mix with yours.
- Files
- A track’s audio, artwork and documents. Go here to upload, share or rename files.
- Chat
- The track’s activity: every file, image and agreement as it was added, with a link to each. Comments on a file stay on that file.
- Metadata
- Release name, artist, genre, ISRC and credits. This is what a distributor needs, and it pre-fills your agreements.
- Lyrics
- The track’s lyrics, on their own tab next to Metadata so there’s room for them.
- Agreements
- Split sheets for this track. Make them, send them, and sign the ones sent to you.
- Send
- Publish the track as a release and get a public page for it.
- Settings
- Your name, your accreditation numbers, and account deletion. Open it from your name in the header. It isn’t a tab.
- Invitations
- Appears on Home only when a label invites you onto an artist’s roster. Accept, and the label’s folder appears in your list.
Ways people use this
Sending a mix to someone who has never heard of Vandall
The link is all they need. They don’t sign up, install anything or make an account. They open it, play it, and type a comment. Add "scroll down to leave a comment" to your message and you’ve answered the only question they were likely to ask.
Starting the track before the session rather than after
Create the track and upload the reference before anyone arrives. Then feedback has somewhere to go while people are still listening, instead of turning into three voice notes you transcribe on Monday.
A label invited you and you want to work on their track
Sign in with the address the invitation went to and accept it on Home. If you create your own track for the same song instead, you end up with two records of one release, and your label is only watching theirs.
Tips
- Add your IPI number in Settings before you sign anything. Vandall then fills it into every agreement for you.
