Agree a split with a co-producer
By the end you and your co-producer will have your shares written down and signed, with both your society numbers on the document.
Before you start
- A track you both worked on, and shares you’ve agreed out loud.
- Your IPI number in Settings. Ask your co-producer to add theirs before they sign.

Get the metadata right first
Open the Metadata tab and check the release name, artist and ISRC. They’re copied into the split sheet. Fixing them after people have signed means asking everyone to sign again.

Open the wizard and name the agreement
On the Agreements tab, tap Split Sheet Agreement. On Define info for splits, give it a name that includes the song, then press Continue. In a year, the name is how anyone finds it in the Agreements list. Three documents called Split Sheet help nobody.
- You now see the next step, with your agreement named so you’ll recognise it.

Preview the recipients, then send
Press Continue to preview and check the Recipients list carefully. It shows everyone who will be asked to sign. Then press Send agreement. Each person on it gets a signing link.
- You now see the agreement sent, waiting for your co-producer to sign.

Sign your side
Open the agreement and press Sign Agreement. Check that Accreditation Information shows your numbers, not Not defined. If it’s empty, press Edit in profile to add them; you come straight back. Type your name and press Accept and sign.
- You now see your signature on the document, with your IPI next to it.

Confirm it is signed on both sides
Check the agreement on the Agreements tab. Under its name you’ll see its status, such as Signed. If it’s still waiting, remind your co-producer. If their accreditation was empty when they signed, sort it out now, not when a society asks who they are.

The things that go wrong
- Signing before adding your IPI
- The document records your numbers at the moment you sign. Adding them later doesn’t update a signed agreement.
- A co-producer with no account
- Can be listed but can’t sign in Vandall. You’ll need to collect their signature another way, so check before you send.
- Metadata fixed afterwards
- Doesn’t change a document that’s already signed. The song details are fixed in the agreement when it’s created.
- Shares nobody said out loud
- The most expensive mistake. Vandall will record a share one of you assumed and the other never agreed to.
- Where it lives
- On the track, so the paperwork never gets separated from the music.
- Recipients
- The list of people who will be asked to sign. Your last easy chance to catch a wrong name.
Ways people use this
The split you both think is obvious
Write it down anyway, on the day. Two people who agree completely in the studio can remember it differently a year later, when there’s money riding on which version is right.
Your co-producer is not a Vandall user
Ask them to sign up before you send. It takes a minute and they don’t need a password. If you only list their name, you’ll have to chase their signature outside Vandall and match it up by hand.
Three of you, not two
Same steps, one more person. Agree all three shares together in one conversation, rather than two separate deals that add up to more than 100%.
Tips
- Ask your co-producer to add their IPI in Settings before they sign. If it’s missing, you’ll have to redo the whole agreement.
