Importing Projects from CSV

Migrate your catalog from spreadsheets, Trello, or other tools using the 4-step import wizard. Upload a CSV, map columns, preview, and import.

  1. 1

    Open the Import wizard

Go to "Settings" in the sidebar (Owner only), then click the "Import" tab. This opens the 4-step wizard: Upload, Map Fields, Preview, and Import.

Upload your CSV or TSV file

Drag and drop your file or click to browse. The wizard accepts CSV and TSV formats. Your file should have column headers in the first row. Common exports from Google Sheets, Trello, or any spreadsheet app work — just save or export as CSV first.

  3. 3

    Map columns to project fields

The wizard shows your CSV columns alongside sample data. For each column, select the matching Vandall field: Project Name, Artist Name, Release Date, Genre, Language, ISRC, BPM, and more. Unrecognized column names automatically create new custom metadata fields — so columns like "UPC" or "Publisher" carry over without manual setup.

  4. 4

    Preview and fix issues

The Preview step shows every row as it will be imported. Rows with validation issues are highlighted. You can edit cells inline to fix problems, or exclude specific rows. Dates are auto-normalized between day-first and month-first formats.

  5. 5

    Run the import

Click "Import" to create all projects at once. After import, go to Projects to see your new catalog. All custom metadata fields you mapped are available on every project.

Tips

  • Start with a small test CSV (5-10 rows) before importing your full catalog.
  • Column names don't need to match exactly — the mapping step handles mismatches.
  • Custom columns like "UPC" or "Distributor Notes" automatically become custom metadata fields.
