Import tracks from a CSV
By the end your spreadsheet will be loaded into Vandall as a catalog you can manage: every row a track, and every artist matched to your roster.
Before you start
- A CSV or TSV file with a header row and one track per row. Columns like Title, Artist, Release Date, ISRC and Genre are matched automatically.
- Import permission on the workspace. You’ll find Import under Settings.

Open the importer
Open Settings, then Import. Click Choose File, or drag your CSV onto the dashed upload area.
- You now see a sample of the first rows of your file, split into columns.

Check the sample
Check that your column titles appear as the table’s headings and that each value sits in its own column. If a whole row is squashed into one column, fix the file and upload it again. Then click Continue to Mapping.
- You now see the Map Fields step.

Map your columns
Check what your CSV columns were matched to and correct any that are wrong. Under each column title you’ll see sample values from your file; the matched Vandall field is in the dropdown to its right. Columns Vandall doesn’t recognise are set to + New custom field. Click Continue.
- You now see the Preview & Import step with every row validated.
- A column set to + New custom field becomes a new metadata field in your workspace, named in the box beside the dropdown. Map everything you can to an existing field first.

Review rows and roster matches
Check the rows before anything is imported. Click the pencil beside a value to fix it, or tick Skip to leave a row out. Below the table, under Add these artists to your roster, tick the new artists you want on your roster.
- You now see how many rows are ready to import, and which ones will update a track you already have.
- Click Errors above the table to see only the rows that need fixing.

Import
Tick Update existing tracks matched by ISRC if rows in your file should refresh tracks you already have. Tick File new tracks into their artist’s roster folder to keep each artist’s tracks together. Then click Import; the button shows how many rows will go in, for example Import 20 rows.
- You now see a summary when the import finishes. Open Catalog and check a few tracks.
Tips
- Try a file with a handful of rows first. The import runs on Vandall’s servers, so you can leave a large file to finish on its own.
