Create several tracks at once
By the end you’ll have a batch of new tracks created in one go, each with its artist and details, filed in a folder or collected in a new playlist.
Before you start
- The track names, or the audio files you want to turn into tracks.
- Permission to create tracks in the workspace.
- 1
Open Bulk create tracks
Open Catalog and click the arrow beside Create Track. In the menu, choose Bulk create tracks.
- You now see the Bulk create tracks dialog.
- 2
Add the track names
Type a name and press Enter, or paste a list with one name per line. To start from audio, click Choose files or drop files in: each file becomes a track named after it. Then click Review.
- You now see the review step, with a row for each track.
- To attach a file to a name you typed, drop it onto that row or click Add file beside it. The button counts the tracks, for example Review 4 tracks.
- 3
Set the artist and location
Type the Artist; it fills the Artist column for every row. If they are not on your roster yet, turn on Also add … to your roster to file the tracks under them. Otherwise choose a folder under Location.
- You now see the artist on every row.
- New folder beside Location creates a folder to hold the whole batch.
- 4
Change one track’s details
Click the pencil in a cell to change it for one track, for example Subfolder, Genre or Release date. Pick a suggestion from the batch or your catalog, or type a value, then click ✓. Tick Skip to leave a row out.
- You now see the new value in that cell.
- 5
Create the tracks
To collect the tracks in a playlist, turn on Add to a new playlist and type a Name. Then click Create 3 tracks.
- You now see progress on each row, then the folder where the tracks landed, or the new playlist, with a message such as “3 tracks created”.
- Each row shows its progress. If a track doesn’t go through, retry it from the same dialog; tracks already created are not made twice.
- 6
Send the playlist
On the new playlist’s page, switch on Live in the Share link card and click Copy. Paste the link into an email or a message. The person who opens it can play every track without an account.
- You now see the link and how many times it has been opened. Switch to What they see for the page your recipient gets.
- The full guide to playlist links, with passwords and downloads, is “Build and share a playlist”.
